The Bahamas has always been strongly linked to England, and is still a Common Wealth of England today.  It is now strongly linked to the United States, due to its proximity. 
Tax-Free Paradise
The Bahamas remains free of income tax and capital gains taxes.  In fact, as a home owner, you will only pay 1% to 1.5% property tax yearly.  The government does charge import duties, ranging from 10% - 50%.
Easy Flow of Money
Once you own property in the Bahamas, opening a bank account is easy.  Abaco has many international banks available to choose from.  Since the Bahamas trades in both Bahamian dollars and US dollars, you can easily deposit rental income, or wire transfer monies between your primary home and your Halyard Quay home.
Annual Resident Status
After purchasing property of $500,000 or over, you can apply to be an annual resident of the Bahamas.  This status will allow you and your family an unlimited stay in the Bahamas.  This permit does not allow you to work in the Bahamas, however.
Modern Infrastructure
